One of the most storied brands in mountain bike racing has signed one of the sport’s most accomplished families to its team. Beginning this season Dan, Gee and Rachel Atherton will race for GT .

The trio of siblings joins fellow British rider Marc Beaumont on GT Racing. The team will focus on downhill races and enduro events. Over the past five seasons, the Athertons have racked up more than 50 professional victories. In 2008 Rachel and Gee won the men’s and women’s downhill world championships in Val di Sole, Italy. Dan won multiple World Cup four-cross races before breaking his neck in 2010, after which he focused on enduro-style races like the Megavalanche .

For the past five seasons, the Athertons raced aboard Commencal bikes. Rumors of their switch to GT began filtering out of World Cup circles earlier this year, but weren’t confirmed until today. Sponsoring the Athertons should bring immediate boost in name recognition to GT, which has produced a carbon downhill bike, the Fury, since 2008.
